Versailles Treaty

Definition

The entry of the United States into WWI on the anti-German side quickly turned the tide of warfare. In the Treaty of Versailles of 1919, Germany was forced to give up territory, pay reparations, and limit its future armaments. German resentment against the harsh terms of Versailles would contribute to Hitler's rise to power in the 1930s.
